Cowgirl Up BBQ
For the non-profit Clovis Rodeo Association, giving back to the community is an important part of what we do. Clovis Rodeo wants to support the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation.
Established in 1971, the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation (AARBF) is a statewide 501(c)(3) nonprofit that has worked to build a community of support as survivors journey through the healing process. Through our peer-to-peer support, workshops, support groups, and camps, retreats, and recreation activities, we offer opportunities to build lifelong friendships, promote mental health, and provide resources essential to healing.
In addition, AARBF partners with community groups, fire departments, and school districts to provide fire and burn prevention education programs, which include bringing firefighters into the classroom to teach life-saving fire and burn prevention lessons to elementary students. We also provide prevention education for wildfire preparedness, scald prevention, the Stop, Drop and Roll technique, and more.
AARBF is proud to partner with the Clovis Rodeo Association in support of Champ Camp, the nation’s largest and longest-running youth burn survivor camp. Since 1985, AARBF has hosted burn survivors aged 5-17 for a week-long summer camp. Bringing together staff and volunteers from burn units, fire departments, and fellow survivors to Wonder Valley in Sanger, CA, for community building, mentorship, and healing, mixed with Camp Magic. Over 100 children attend each year at no cost to their families to share in the memories of camp. Activities include horseback riding, go-karting, ropes courses, campfire songs, and rock climbing, as well as judging the best firehouse chili from across the Central Valley as local fire departments compete for the Champy Pot!
The Cowgirl Up event is our opportunity to raise funds for this great cause and have fun at the same time!
