2008 Clovis Rodeo Queen Contestant
Blair Smittcamp
Born and raised in the heart of Clovis country, I am Blair Smittcamp, a 19 year old cowgirl with big dreams of becoming the next Miss Clovis Rodeo Queen, My family has been farming in Clovis for three generations, so ranching, rodeoing and riding horses is our way of life. I am the youngest daughter of Bill and Linda Smittcamp and youngest sister to Blake and Bradley.

A 2007 graduate from Buchanan High School, I was the advertising executive and main reporter for the school newspaper, member of our class Rally Club, Jr. Larc's, and active in the leadership program. I was chosen as one of the Top 100 Students of Clovis Unified which was sponsored by the Clovis Rotary Club. I lettered hi varsity golf, and was a three year member of the track team. I am still an avid sports participant, whether it's getting into the game or cheering from the sidelines.

I am currently attending California State University Fresno, and majoring in Mass Communications and Journalism, with the hope of pursuing a career in Public Relations.

My love for horses started early and I began riding at the age of 8. At the age of 12 I became an active member of several major barrel racing associations in California and nationwide. In 2006, I was the ACBRA reserve champion, NBHA District 15 youth champion, CCBR youth champion, and a NBHA World Qualifier for the past four years. I was the 2007 CCBR youth Association

President and placed in the Top 10 2007 ACBRA year end finals. I am also the newest and youngest member of the current ACBRA Board of Directors.

Two years ago I began taking reining cow horse lessons and started competing with the Valley Cow Horse Association and the National Reining Cow Horse Association. This past year I placed in the Top 5 VCHA for the Non Pro Reining and won the year end VCHA youth reining championship buckle.

Clovis Rodeo has been a part of my life since I can remember, and attending the Clovis Rodeo has been an annual family tradition. I would love the opportunity to use my personality and horsemanship skills to be apart of the amazing group of people that put on such an outstanding rodeo event that benefits me and my community. The rodeo gives me the motivation to someday compete as well as the chance to become part of this wonderful tradition that has such a huge impact on our Clovis way of life.

I would like to give a special thanks to the Clovis Rodeo Association for this opportunity to represent my hometown and the Old Town Clovis Kiwanis Club for their support and sponsorship.
