2008 Clovis Rodeo Queen
Anne Marie Katuin
Hi, I am Anne Marie Katuin. I am 20 years old and was born and raised in Madera Ranchos. My parents are Curtis and Tammy and I have a younger brother, Jon. My Grandparents, long time residents of Madera County, are retired cattle ranchers. Recently, we lost my grandfather, who was a very avid supporter of youth in agriculture. His answer to most problems was a simple one, "work hard". His work ethic trickled down through his five kids, 12 grand children and 11 great grandchildren. Growing up in the country around animals taught me a lot about hard work and responsibility. I know win or lose, he would be proud of me today for my hard work to obtain the title of 2008 Miss Clovis Rodeo.

I received my first horse Kate for my 9th birthday. She was a great mare and was ready and willing to do most anything I asked. She ran gymkhana, showed Western and English and could make it through any trail ride. I learned to rope and barrel race and won my first belt buckle for pee-wee dummy roping in 1997.1 was hooked! That was the first of many buckles to come including the Central Valley Saddle Club's 2007 Champion Gymkhana Buckle.

4-H has had a huge influence on my life. I held many leadership positions and was involved in a variety of projects. I was the horse group junior leader for many years and competed on the California State horse judging team. I am now an adult leader and excited to give back to the program.

Since graduating as Valedictorian from Liberty High School, I have been attending Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. My major is Agricultural Science, concentrating in Ag Education and Animal Science with a minor in Equine Science. I am actively involved in Collegiate FFA, other activities in the Ag Education department, and I live and work on campus at the Poultry Unit. I have maintained an average of 18 units per quarter, hold a 3.7 GPA and have been on the Dean's List 4 out of 5 quarters. I plan to teach high school Ag and work with FFA so that I can share the skills that I have learned and the fun I have had with the youth of the Central Valley.

As a 10 year member of the Central Valley Saddle Club and 2003 Queen I would like to thank them for being my sponsor and say that I am proud to represent the club in this competition. I would also like to say thank you to my family and friends for their support. I am ready for a great rodeo season in Clovis, CA and hope to see you there!
