At the annual meeting of the Clovis Rodeo Association the membership enjoyed the opportunity to discuss a successful 95th Clovis Rodeo and elect the 2010 Board of Directors.
Outgoing Clovis Rodeo Association President, Mark Thompson, thanked the association membership at the annual meeting for their commitment to making the 95th Clovis Rodeo so successful. "We could not make the Clovis Rodeo happen, year in and year out, without the dedication of our membership who believe in making sure our community's western heritage continues for many years to come," Thompson said.
The 2010 officers elected at the May board meeting are Ron Dunbar, president; Scott Saltzman, Vice President, Susan Frantzich, Secretary and Jeff Witte, Treasurer. Additional board members elected include: Lynn Armstrong, Vern Barkman, Joe Billaiba, Larry Cowger, Ken Elliott, Vince Genco, Greg Gillard, Tom Hunter, Stan King, Chuck Rigsbee, Dan Rigsbee, Radar Ryan, Mike Spears and Mark Thompson.
"We look forward to doing what we do best and making the 96th annual Clovis Rodeo bigger and better than ever," said Ron Dunbar, Rodeo Association's newly elected president. "We are already busy planning for next year and looking forward to celebrating the 100th Clovis Rodeo in 2014."
The 580-member non-profit association is governed by an 18-member board of directors who is responsible for overseeing the planning of the annual Clovis Rodeo always held the last weekend of April.
The 95th Clovis Rodeo concluded its successful run on Sunday, April 26 with more than 35,000 visitors having attended the four-day rodeo. Fans not only enjoyed the return of the USST PBR Bull Riding Challenger Tour on Thursday night, but rodeo action followed by a concert by country super-group LONESTAR on Friday night and more PRCA rodeo action on Saturday and Sunday.
The Clovis Rodeo Association hosts events throughout the year that culminates with western heritage month in April each year. All events lead up the 4-day annual rodeo always held the last weekend of April. The 96th Clovis Rodeo will be held April 26 - 29, 2010. Tickets will go on sale in January of 2010.

The all-volunteer, non-profit Clovis Rodeo Association (CRA) has 580 members. Approximately $125,000 in proceeds from the Clovis Rodeo and related events coordinated by CRA members benefit local charities annually, including 4-H, FFA, Clovis Schools, Clovis Police Activities League, California High School Rodeo Foundation, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Break the Barriers, Boy Scouts of America, Clovis Community Hospital and the Central California Blood Center.
The 95th Annual Clovis Rodeo continued today with record setting crowds, wild rides and cheering fans. More than 25,000 fans started out the morning watching the Clovis Rodeo parade before making it over to the rodeo arena to watch some of the top cowboys in professional rodeo.
The Clovis Rodeo will have their final performance tomorrow, on Sunday, April 26. Rodeo action will begin at 9:00 a.m. with the Gold Card Team Roping for cowboys who are 50 plus years young. The annual Kids Rodeo in partnership with Break the Barriers will begin at 12:45 p.m. Official PRCA rodeo action will take place beginning at 2:00 p.m.
The Clovis Rodeo opened today with the crowning of the 2009 Clovis Rodeo Queen, Brittnay Slaton of Hollister. Brittnay will go on to represent the Clovis Rodeo and Clovis Community at events and rodeos throughout the year. Blossom Trail 4-H club was the Sweepstakes winner at the parade for their themed float "Cowboys, Kids and Country."
A crowd of 6,000 fans at the Clovis Rodeo watched as reigning world champion, Justin McDaniel took another ride on the wild side. He lived up to his world champion title in bareback riding yet again with an 86-point ride today. Results in other events included: Brad McGilchrist (Steer Wrestling), Elliot French (Saddle Bronc) Garrett Tonozzi and Kinney Harrell (Team Roping), Joseph Parsons (Tie-Down Roping), Linda Vick (Barrel Racing) Joseph Parsons (Tie Down Roping) and Zack Oakes (Bull Riding).

A whole lot of rodeo action followed by a concert with multi-platinum country super-group LONESTAR turned up the second day of events at the 95th Annual Clovis Rodeo. After the rodeo concluded rodeo fans, and fans that only came for the concert, bumped up the crowd to standing room only at 10,500 guests. Two more days of rodeo action will continue through the weekend.
A record setting ground of more than 7,000 for the Clovis Rodeo watched reigning world champions, past world champions and rising stars in the sport try for the best ride on some of the best stock in PRCA rodeo. Rodeo action will continue into the weekend beginning with the rodeo parade at 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning. The parade will wind its way through the streets of Old Town Clovis and is themed "Cowboys, Kids and Country." The coronation of the 2009 Clovis Rodeo Queen will take place at 1:00 p.m. in the arena and the rodeo will kick off at 2:00 p.m. Followed by the Rodeo Dance at 7:30 p.m. in the rodeo hall.
On Sunday, April 26 the rodeo events will begin with Gold Card Team Roping at 9:00 a.m. and the Special Kids Rodeo with Break the Barriers at 12:45 p.m. The final rodeo performance will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.
The Clovis Rodeo kicks into high gear tonight with the return of the USST PBR Bull Riding Challenger Tour. Forty (40) of Professional Bull Riding's rising stars of the sport will ride some of the rankest bulls in the sport as they look for the highest score of the night. Two lucky fans in attendance tonight at the Clovis Rodeo will receive tickets to the PBR finals at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas in November 2009. The event will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Clovis Rodeo. Tickets are still on sale for $20.00 for reserved seating.

More than 400 contestants began qualifying yesterday for the 95th Annual Clovis Rodeo to run April 23 – 26, 2009. Fans watched World Champions Luke Branquinho (steer wrestling), Matt Sherwood (Team Roping -Header) and Stran Smith (tie down) make their first of two qualifying runs for their events and saw what it takes to have the title of 2008 World Champion.
One of the top three rodeos in California and top fifteen across the nation the PRCA rodeo offers top contestants a total purse for all events of more than $300,000 and plenty of cheering fans. Each contestant is trying to qualify for the Clovis Rodeo over the next two days in a field of world champion competition that knows what it takes to get to the National Finals Rodeo held each December in Las Vegas.

It's all about rodeo in Clovis, California this week. The 95th Annual Clovis Rodeo will open with the USST PBR Bull Riding Challenger Tour on Thursday, April 23 for four days of rodeo excitement.
